Bentwater Golf Club
Bentwater Golf Club, located in Acworth, near Marietta and Kennesaw, is one of Northwest Atlanta’s best golf courses, offering almost 7,000 yards from the back tees. However, the course is better known for its scenic appeal than its difficulty. Striking views of Red Top Mountain, as well as the navigating ponds, creeks and wetlands will highlight your round at Bentwater.

Bentwater Golf Club, which opened to rave reviews in 2000, is a parkland-style Mike Dasher design. Dasher, a native Georgian and graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology, worked with world-renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills for the first 16 years of his career, learning and developing his skills. He branched out and established his own golf course design firm in 1997.In addition to designing Bentwater, Dasher is also credited as the architect of Traditions of Braselton, another popular golf course in the Canongate family.
Walking is permitted after 2:00 PM on weekends/holidays.

Mitch Miller, 6/17/2013 7:12:03 AM EST First time playing this course. What a gem. Great layout. Makes you play a lot of shots. Just not your typical hit a driver on every hole. The greens were fast. I mean fast. The entire staff at Bentwater was incredible. Absolutely made you feel welcome.

Peter Bennie, 12/3/2012 8:07:20 AM EST Greens are in great shape. A very fair layout, even from the Blue tees for high handicappers. The staff made us very welcome. Excellent Course.
Ron Weaver, 10/6/2012 8:59:32 PM EST Went to Bentwater today as a single. Love the greens. The entire course is in great shape. The staff (pro shop, cart guys, restaurant) was very professional, made me feel welcome. Looking forward to going there with friends the next time.
Phillip Ackerman, 10/5/2012 4:36:59 PM EST I am impressed from Tee to green. The rough is thick and unpredictable, so keep it in the fairway. The greens are running true, if you cannot putt stay at home.
Christopher Pugh, 9/29/2012 11:02:03 AM EST New greens are in great shape and rolling beautifully.
Brian Bailey, 7/2/2012 10:59:05 AM EST Good Course. They are re-doing the greens right now. Good to practice. Once the greens are up and running like Eagle Watch this will be a great course.
Sam Kuiper, 12/30/2011 9:17:55 AM EST The repair work on the greens have taken well. The course is in "good" winter shape!
Chris Thomas, 9/19/2011 12:06:30 PM EST By far the worst shape of any canongate course Ive played! Very disappointed! Should not be charging full rate!
Canongate Golf Clubs, 8/24/2011 4:40:26 PM EST Bentwater is actually in terrific shape from tee to green. The unprecedented heat has damaged two greens severely and thinned others. We are monitoring all the greens very closely and doing a lot at the club to assist with the recovery such as aerifying and inter-seeding with A1/A4 Bentgrass. The good news is cooler temperatures are right around the corner and we expect significant improvement by mid October.
Don Schmidt, 8/12/2011 9:07:36 PM EST The courde is trash the Greens are gone they need to start over to bad it was a good track
Mark, 8/5/2011 3:15:59 PM EST You know what, dont listen to anything i just said. The course is a dump.
Mark, 7/22/2011 12:34:19 PM EST The course has good size fairways allowing you to get off the tee but makes you hit quality iron shots into the greens. This course definitely rewards good iron play but does require some distance off the tee on the long par 5's and a couple Par 4's. They do an unbelievable job of getting the greens into shape in the Spring and then getting them to bounce back in early fall. The summer beats up the greens but that's why the sister course (Eagle Watch) has the bermuda greens. The entire staff, especially Jim & Justin, always go out of their way to make my family feel welcome at their course. Also, the new chef has really stepped up the Friday night dinner and Wednesday night buffet, highly recommend having dinner there.
Robert, 7/15/2011 7:26:05 PM EST This is a very difficult course with BOTH out of bounds and hazards coming into play on all but 3 or 4 holes. Adding to the difficulty are tricky tee alignments, pin placements, and fairways with very very few flat lies. You really need to be a single digit handicap to enjoy this course. Aside from taking an unavoidable beating from the summer heat, it is a very lovely track and he crew does a good job. It is unfortunate that they are not planting winter rye during the cold season, and the tee boxes are starting to become uneven from the erosion. The practice area alone gives this course an automatic 4 stars (3 without). Hands down the best practice facility of any N. GA course. Mark Anderson is the pro and an excellent teacher. I highly recommend him for anyone trying to improve their game.
Shawn, 7/14/2011 4:22:38 PM EST Heat taking its toll here too. Three temporary greens. If it keeps up, bent-grass greens may someday be a thing of the past.
Jimmy, 7/9/2011 5:54:32 PM EST I agree with Chris' comments about the flags of the 4th. Although I have never served, I have the utmost appreciation and respect for those who have. I played that weekend as well and I can assure you in our group we handed the flagstick off on every putt and made sure they never touched the ground. The club did ask that everyone show them that respect but sadly a lot of people today have not been raised that way.
Chris, 7/3/2011 7:58:38 PM EST Overall the course is in good shape. Couple of greens are burnt, but you can see that the staff is working hard to get them back in shape. My only complaint is that I played over the 4th of July weekend, and they course has put the US Flag on every hole, with no place to store the flag up right near the greens. As a Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan Vet with 2 purple hearts I find this offensive. Our flag NEVER touches the ground. NEVER!
Anonymous, 6/27/2011 11:19:58 PM EST Great course in great shape.
David, 6/23/2011 10:55:08 AM EST I live right around the corner from Bentwater and had the good fortune of playing this course on Father's Day. I loved playing the course as it was kept up extremely nice. The staff there was amazing and helpful all the way down to Danielle the beverage cart attendant. I will be joining soon. Thanks!

Sam Kuiper, 6/11/2011 11:22:33 PM EST Thanks for your continued efforts to keep the course in shape this year.
Mike Grier, 6/6/2011 3:16:02 PM EST Bentwater is an excellent course for all levels. Short game area and driving range are better than most, and the people who work there do a great job.

Jay Prestera, 5/24/2011 3:31:39 PM EST Recently played the course and was dissapointed in the condition of the fairways. They were hard, grass was spotty, and it was very dry. Looked like everything was about to die.

Lou Rodriguez, 5/10/2011 9:16:48 AM EST Some of the tee boxes need to be redone. otherwise the course is in excellent shape.

Jim St. John, 5/1/2011 11:04:17 AM EST As a 12 handicap senior, I played the White tees. This very challenging course is very fair for seniors from the Whites. Most exceptional feature on May 30 was the quality of the greens, where they we smooth and did not tear away when receiving fairway iron shots. Weakest feature like most Canongate courses was very poor playability from hard-packed sand traps. Players are challenged to manage shot selection wisely. Good risk/reward options.
Allen Robinson, 4/19/2011 5:56:03 PM EST Love playing at Bentwater! Find the staff and members there to be very friendly and helpful!
Anonymous, 4/15/2011 10:22:48 AM EST Best in NW ATL
Chad Rothschild, 4/14/2011 12:01:10 PM EST The condition of course is usually really good. Greens are typically the best part because they do a good job keeping them in good shape & rolling very good. The layout is OK. The staff are very friendly. Mark Anderson is a great teaching pro.
